BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN OUR TRADITIONAL VALUES AND FUTURE GROWTH
I am running for a position on the Rexburg City Council. I am dedicated to helping keep Rexburg a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family. We are facing some challenges as our City grows and I feel that I can help bridge the gap between our traditional values and the growth that is certain in our future. This website is designed to help you get to know me and my campaign better. You can learn about my priorities, my experience, and my vision for the future of Rexburg.
Education
Madison High School
Class of 1975
The class of 75 was the first class to spend our entire 4 years in what was then the new High School. I was the editor of the Madisonian yearbook and served on the Student council both my Junior and Senior years
1976-1978
Served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Paris, France Mission
I had served about 6 months when, walking down the streets of Paris on Sunday morning, June 7th, 1976, I saw the headlines of the International New York Times "TETON DAM BREAKS" with a picture my neighbors house floating on Main Street of Rexburg. By the time I returned, everything was pretty much all cleaned up.
1978-1979
Associate Degree Business Administration
Ricks College
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at (then) Ricks College. Mount Saint Helens erupted during a class on Climate and Meteorology. Met my wonderful wife at Ricks.
1979
Married the wonderful Tami Cheney of Rupert, Idaho in the Logan LDS Temple
The best and most enjoyable education of my life has been experienced in the 44 years we have been married.
1979-1981
Bachelor of Science Degree
Business Administration and Finance
Utah State University, Logan, Utah
My most enjoyable classes were those in Economics, particularly Public Finance and Economics.
Work Experience
1981-2019
Erickson Pontiac-GMC
Rexburg, Idaho
We were a family-owned Automobile Dealership here in Rexburg for over 52 years. I've done everything from washing cars to completing major multi-million dollar finance deals. Thanks to our loyal customers, we grew the business over the years from two employees in a one room showroom to a major employer in Rexburg. Our reputation was always one of honesty and personal care for each of our customers and employees. We sold the business in 2019 and retired, missing the relationships we have built over the years, but enjoying a bit of freedom to serve the community in other important ways.

Much of my experience in dealing with others has been associated with my church service. I served as a young missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Paris, France mission and together with my wife, recently returned from serving in the mission office of the Lyon, France Mission. I have served as a bishop and stake president here in Rexburg and have had wonderful opportunities to interact one-on-one with some of the very best people on the planet in those capacities.
